Care For Your Rug

Antique and vintage rugs have been around for many years and can withstand many elements along the way, however with age comes the need for a little care.

Styling: If you are truly trying to preserve your rugs current look, try to place it in an area that may get less foot traffic or in a room that you do less entertaining.  Also, don't be afraid to style your rug in different ways such as folding it across your bed or hanging it over your headboard.  However, this goes before saying that many of our rugs are low pile and can endure high foot traffic so we always love to put our rugs in kitchens and bathrooms!

Cleaning: In addition to getting your rug professionally cleaned every 1-2 years, we recommend gentle vacuuming on a low or wood floor setting to pick up any unsettled dirt or pet hair on a regular basis.

Spills: If you spill something on your rug, use a towel to press firmly into the spot and then using only water to cleanse the affected area.  Hang rug to dry afterwards.

Odors: Most antique and vintage rugs are made of 100% wool and due to the age of the rugs, sometimes a slight smell can linger even after being professional cleaned.  So we recommend periodically hanging them outside to get some fresh air!

Protection: A rug pad helps extend longevity by cushioning between the hard wood floor surface and the rug.  It also keeps the rug in place to decrease excess pulling or slips.
